Welcome to the official web site of KB9RRN-L, remote site for the K9NZF Kleer Konnect Repeater System.  This EchoLink® station provides VoIP connection to the K9NZF Kleer Konnect Master Site in Randolph County, Indiana, extending Kleer Konnect system coverage into northwestern Johnson County and southwestern Marion County in Indiana (Indianapolis).

The station is privately owned and operated by KB9RRN.  The system may be accessed over the air or EchoLink® connection to KB9RRN-L (node number 541081) or the master Kleer Konnect site, K9NZF-R (node number 443325).  Please note that to use the remote site over the air, a transceiver with narrowband FM and DPL® (DCS or digital code squelch) capabilities is required.  The station is configured as such to minimize annoying squelch tails or static crashes being sent over the VoIP connection, and to ensure that a minimum amount of spectrum bandwidth is being used by the system.

Currently, the remote site operates in simplex configuration on the master site's repeater output frequency.  Repeater shift must be turned off when operating through the remote site via RF, meaning you must use simplex on 443.325 MHz NFM with DCS code 325.  Because the remote site operates in simplex configuration, audio from RF users operating through the remote site is not locally repeated.  The remote site can support an unlimited number of RF users, however those RF users must be within simplex range of one another to hear one another's traffic.

The KB9RRN-L station also carries several nets independent of the main K9NZF-R repeater site.  It carries all of the SouthCARS VoIP nets throughout the week.  Each Sunday evening beginning at 1930 ET, it carries several western Pennsylvania area nets, which are the Somerset County ARES/RACES net on the K3SMT repeater in Somerset, PA, the Garrett County, Maryland ARES/ACS net, and the Wide Area Network Repeater System Emergency Services Net, both on the outstanding Wide Area Network Repeater System.  Information about these nets, including schedule times, may be found by following the preceding hyperlinks.  When a net is not active, the remote site is connected to the master Kleer Konnect site, K9NZF-R and is available for general amateur radio use.

Basic control codes are available to interested amateurs in good standing with the system operators who are wishing to use the system to connect to other repeaters, links, and conferences on the EchoLink® network.  Be advised that during routine operation, the system automatically maintains it's connection to K9NZF-R (meaning it cannot be permanently disconnected from K9NZF-R with a DTMF control code sent over the air - the system will automatically reconnect itself) and with the current VoIP configuration at the K9NZF-R Master Site, all K9NZF repeater audio including courtesy tone and system CW ID is passed through KB9RRN-L and any other nodes connected to it, so additional connections should be made with discretion and disconnected as soon as use of those connections is no longer needed.  Please send e-mail to noc (at) nwjcra (dot) org for details.
